carl lewis offering some advice to our local sprinter-UK Shyam after watching him start
e past 2 wks or so, had been having wkend events after one another..e sch holidays is e time when my dept is busy..reaching out to students who are free after their exams..tired but quite worth it..i'm promoting sthg dat is gd..being active in sports..building character n lifeskills..had e opportunity to listen to e track n field legend, carl lewis-nine time olympic champion..he was in town during e wkend to open nike's outlet at vivocity..though could not totally identify w him as he is not from my generation..n track n field..quite foreign to me..it was encouraging to hear him speak..despite all his achievements, he seemed to be someone who is not loafty as critics put it but stayed humble..liked wat he said dat "i am prob someone who was known to run fast before..though there are many runners out there who had not been spotted or given e chance like i do"..he shared about putting things in perspective..at e end of e day, "i am just someone who also need to rest, sleep, like any other human being." he was clearly disapproval of athletes who took drugs to enhance performance..his stand is dat u do e right thing and everything w'd be right..hard work, focus, no shortcut abt it..

informative post. yeah i bet some of the younger athletes cant relate to him, more to asafa, or greene time i guess
but he has done his fair share of sporting history, that will never change
